Born in 1953, Cape Cod native Thomas Higham studied at the Boston Museum School, and then graduated from the Swain School of Design. Higham's work suggests to the eye a meticulous rendition of rural New England as we customarily perceive it. But simultaneously we are aware that this moment of common perception has an added quality of clarity and pleasure which we tend to associate with moments from our own individual experiences of time and place. Painter, pianist, boat-builder, gardener, and inventor, Thomas Higham lures us into his poetic world of life by the sea. What he is able to capture in his buildings, boats, and pristine shorelines are moments that endure with dignity the passage of time.
