Jon R. Friedman, born 1947 in Washington D.C. Friedman received a B.A. in Philosophy from Princeton University and an M.F.A. in painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan with additional study at the Corcoran Museum School and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
Friedman’s paintings depict sweeping natural landscapes and wildlife portraits with bold, graceful realism. His direct observations of the natural world in all of its complexity are palpably real, and yet they transcend the straightforward effects of photography.
Friedman’s paintings and sculptures are in public, corporate, and private collections throughout the United States, as well as Europe and Japan, including The Hirshhorn
Museum in Washington D.C., the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the
Nathan Cummings Foundation, the New School for Social Research in New York
