John Budicin, born 1944, in Rovigno, Italy, and moved to America in 1955. He was educated in California at Riverside Community College. Although he travels to other locations, including back to his native Italy, most of Budicin’s highly accomplished plein air work is done in and around his home in Southern California. Budicin’s airy landscapes feature the fleeting changes in light and color that can only be observed by painting on location. Hoping to let the language of nature speak through his brushstrokes, his work generally includes some elements of human life – a contemporary acknowledgement of man and nature coexisting. A Signature member of the California Art Club, the Oil Painters of America, and the Laguna Plein Air Painter’s Association, and President of Plein Air Painters of America, Budicin has won numerous major awards in open juried shows within the past few years, including six gold medals and first place awards.
